Feeling like fall

I have been meaning to bring my Back Porch blouse out to play and I finally had a chance to do that on Sunday. In honor of fall, I thought I would throw in some orange as well!

I wore this to the movie theater over the weekend. We saw Drive. I highly recommend it! I know it sounds like a super cheesy movie, but it was actually quite good. I really enjoyed it and didn't even fall asleep in the theater (which is unusual for me). After being disappointed by Bridesmaids, I didn't expect much, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Million Pleats

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes! I had a wonderful day. I even took Friday off so that I could extend my birthday celebration throughout the long weekend:) Ben surprised me with the best birthday gift ever - a vintage SLR 35mm camera! I have had so much fun this weekend playing around with it. It produces really lovely images. Film has such a special quality that I think you just can't get from a digital camera. I am just starting to learn how to use it, but I already love it. Once I figure out how to get the images in an electronic format, I will share some here.

My mom knew just what I needed for my birthday this year - shopping money! What a perfect gift, right? Especially since I saved my anthro discount for yesterday. Thanks, mom! This skirt is one of the items you got me:)

This skirt was wishlisted as soon as I tried it on when it first appeared in my store. The color is gorgeous, I love the pleats/waist detail, and the midi length is perfect (it's my first midi skirt!). It fits well and is very comfortable.

I'm showing off one of our farmers market finds - a tiny little tree:)

Last Day

Today is the last day of my 20's. Yep, tomorrow is my birthday and I will be 30 years old! It is hard to believe. Ben's birthday was a few weeks ago and he turned 30 as well. I have enjoyed telling everyone over the last few weeks that he is in his 30's and I am in my 20's:) I am feeling a tiny bit of the 'omg, my twenties are over, I'm getting old, is my life headed in the direction it should be' panic, but mostly I am excited. I am looking forward to this new decade of my life!

This is a recent outfit. As I mentioned in this post, this skirt is one of the very first items I ever purchased at Anthropologie. It is a timeless piece and has held up so well over the years.

Weekend business trip

What a crazy week in blog land! So much has already been said about the anthroholic scandal (see here for more info) and since I was not personally involved (thank goodness), I really don't have much to add. I will just say that I of course feel terribly for everyone who was taken advantage of. I hope each and every one of them can find a resolution in a timely manner. I would also like to add that while I understand how upsetting and disheartening this situation is, I also realize that there are so many other wonderful things to focus on. There really are so many wonderful people in our little community, people who are genuine, people who mean well, and people who have lots of positive/inspirational/beautiful things to share. That is what I will be focusing on.

I spent the weekend in San Diego for work. I took a super early flight on Friday, so that I would have a little bit of time to relax. I went on a hike, had lunch by the pool, and then just lounged around for most of the evening. Yesterday, I was in meetings pretty much all day. Afterwards, I went to a sunset yoga class and then to a fabulous dinner. Today, I had a quick, early morning meeting, and then I made my way home to my super excited pups:)

The crossover clogs actually shipped! I can't believe I scored these for $30 bucks! They were on "backorder" for about a week, but then they shipped! I love them. They are TTS, well-made, and gorgeous.

I'm not sure what kind of plant this is (if you recognize it, let me know), but it is amazing. This photo is not edited at all.

Last night, I had dinner at Addison. Apparently, this is the only 5-star, 5-diamond restaurant in Southern California. It was quite fancy and so delicious. The whole experience, from the time I walked through the door, to my last sip of coffee at the end of the evening, was perfect (great job perk, right?)

OOTD and wedding planning

Here is my OOTD. The temps have dropped back down to the 70's, so I'm back in tights and cardigans (well, I actually wear a cardigan pretty much ever single day regardless of the temperature:).

I am getting married next month! I am having so much fun planning, crafting, and getting everything ready. This is not going to be a traditional wedding in any way - this is more of a 'come to our awesome BBQ/Party and oh, btw, we're getting married' kind of thing. I have never planned a big event like this and to make it a little more challenging, it is happening all the way across the county in NC. I have found so many wonderful ideas on Pinterest (follow me here and see my party pin board here). I thought I would share a few of my favorites.

Still Summer

This is an outfit I wore to work last week. We have had a VERY mild summer here in Portland, until this week, that is. Of course, now that most places are starting to cool down and fall clothes are making their first appearances, it is in the upper 90's here. As much as I want to be wearing cords, sweaters, and boots, I am just trying to enjoy this last burst of summer.

Zander makes posing a challenge:) He just can't sit still. I know it's an awkward shot, but it shows off our beautiful front yard, so I wanted to include it.

Wisteria

I wore this dress over the weekend to run errands, go out to eat, and catch a movie. We finally saw Bridesmaids, but I have to admit that I was a little bit disappointed. I think the disappointment was inevitable, considering all of the hype surrounding the movie. It was definitely funny, but my expectations were just too high. What other movies are out right now that are worth watching? Any suggestions?

My birthday is coming up this month. You know what that means - Anthropologie discount! Here are a few things that are at the top of my wishlist right now:

Button-back

I hope your holiday weekend is off to a nice start. I had a lazy morning, a delicious brunch at Zell's, and a long afternoon nap:) Other than a movie tonight, we really don't have any plans for the rest of the weekend. What about you?

I first noticed this top when Appgal reviewed it (here). It's the Stripe Button-Back tee from J. Crew. When J. Crew was offering 30% off sale items a couple of weeks ago, I noticed the tee was still available in my size. I got it for just under $14. Score! I love this tee. It is so soft and comfy.

The best part of the tee is the back. Aren't the buttons cute?

In other news, I've had a very lucky shoe week. After finding a new Chie Mihara love (I will share soon), I scored some great deals on a couple of other pairs of shoes. I happened to see that someone posted over at Effortless Anthropologie about seeing the Lemon Stick wedges on second cut for $29.99 at their local store (even though they are still $79.95 elsewhere). I quickly called the store and these beauties are now on their way to me. After reading the reviews, I think that they may end up being too big for me. For that price though, it's worth a shot. I really hope I can make them work.

I also ordered the Crossover Clogs on popback for $29.99. Fingers crossed that they actually ship!
